Luke Aston Filley

Well, after two days of excruciating labor, the kid is here.  We asked what he wanted to be called and he said 'Zoroastor'.  We politely vetoed that name and suggested 'Luke' instead.  He nodded curtly and the deal was done.

Not Really An Update

Well, no new news. Week 41 is approaching in exactly 41 minutes, interestingly enough, and the appointment with the midwife today yielded no significant results. My body is showing no signs of an impending birth. She measured the baby (or my stomach, rather) and has determined that he is quite normally sized. He is not growing too large, which is a concern this late in the game. I am really quite comfortable, which has been the trend through this whole experience (praise Jesus' name...) and while I'm sure I've had a few periodic Braxton-Hicks contractions, that's all they are. I've felt no other progress at all.

We also had a non-stress test today where my uterus was monitored for contractions and the baby's heartbeat was measured for about 45 minutes. He performed very well (after I moved from lying on my back to my side), with a strong, active heartbeat and plenty of movement. There were no contractions recorded.

In other news, I just received my latest shipment of cloth diapers (the Tiny Tush brand) and have laundered them accordingly. The need to be washed a few times to break down the fibers or else they won't absorb properly right away. He probably won't be able to wear them for a month or two until he fills out a bit, but they should last until he's potty trained. I have Charlie Banana brand diapers too, and I think I'm a little more fond of them color and shape wise, although Tiny Tush is made in the USA. Charlie Banana is made entirely in China (booo). We also received some second-hand boy clothes from Italy (of all places! Gracias, military brother and sister!) which are cute as the dickens. This leaves us well on track to avoid purchasing clothes for him until he's 5. Gotta love family.

That's all for now... be looking for THE POST sometime before next week...

Baby X playlist

Since Baby X has decided that he's finally got the womb just the way he likes it and isn't too keen on leaving anytime soon, we've been trying to fill the hours and keep ourselves distracted...  In that spirit, we've come up with the definitively best 'baby playlist' to play in Baby X's room during naptime.  Click on the name of the song to hear it, feel free to add your comments, and especially your suggestions.

Hi Ma!

This blog is specifically designed so that our mom can keep up with her grandbaby even though she's out of town.  Of course if someone else were to stumble upon it I suppose we wouldn't object.
